Amazing Race 2010

Involvement

For my entire 4 years at Uvic I have been am member of the Physical Education Students Assosiation (PESA_, and for 3 of those years I have been the clubs President. I am currently still the President, am and searching for another individual who is passionate about physical activity as a daily lifestyle to take my place.

Our goal as a club is to raise awarness about the benefits of phyical activity in our community, our schools, and anywhere else we can touch. We organzie annual charity fundraisers to help those in our community who need assistance. Recently we have donated to the MS Society, Power to Be, Right to Play, and The Victoria Special Olympics.

We also host a variety of events for Uvic students (mostly EPHE), that help them make new friends, and introduce them to an active way of life.

My role as President, is to organzie, oversee, and facilitate every activity that is hosted by our club. In doing this, I have built many relationships in our community, and hope to continue spreading awareness, and helping those in need even after my time at Uvic is finished.

Of course, not enough good things can be said about the team that I have been working along side for these past 3 years. Some have come and some have gone, but their involvement has touched many lives, and I thank them for that!

Events

  • Annual Welcome Back Event "Amazing Race": New students are introduced to returning students in a Victoria version of the show "Amazing Race" where students race around UVic and downtown Victoria in a scavenger hunt to collect a list of items and tasks.
  • Annual T-Shirt Social: Tickets are sold to members of the program for a night of fun during the first semester. Each member receives there very own EPHE t-shirt! This event always sells out 200+ people. Profits from the event are donated to charity.

For admission and skate rentals students were asked to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Mustard Seed Foodbank.

In addition they are responsible for organizing and receiving sales orders, dealing with a local clothing supplier, and ensuring delivery of all program clothing. Sale of program clothing is done annually.
