Personal Feedback
I think that this class went really well overall. Had I ad more time within the class to do my entire series of activities certain concepts definitely would have made more sense. In working with the time crunch I had to move quickly and have the students move just as quickly beside me. I was shocked on how much more engagement this unintentional momentum created in the class. Students were now able to connect concepts a lot easier due to time and were able to naturally progress as they climbed the scaffolding of learning.
Having a lot more Play Doh to enable the students to properly form the hold would have been great. As well not forgetting my knot score keeping technique would have been a nice way of keeping score while knowing knots.
The teaching styles worked really nicely. I really wanted to emphasize the individuality that goes with climbing as well as each person's preferences. Climbing in itself is inquiry based due to the climber having the goal of getting to the top. Then it's up to them to figure out each hold and move in their own unique way. The task cards were great as well. I could have emphasized more questions such as "how can you move with this hold?" That question seemed to stump a few groups as I went around checking in with them.
