What does PROFESSIONAL COMMITMENT mean to me?

Standard Two pertains to the professional and ethical conduct of teachers. When we as Educators vow to be role models, “who act ethically and honestly”, this is not limited to our jobs but how we live our lives, professionally and privately. As an active volunteer at Glad Tidings Church for the past 6 years, I made this commitment long ago.

In addition, Standard Seven speaks directly to teachers commitment to being open-minded, open to feedback, and always always open and willing to learn new things. A good teacher considers themselves always"a learner".

Lastly, I feel this also encompasses Standard Eight. We all come to our profession with unique backgrounds, expertise, and a broad knowledge in different subject areas. A part of professional commitment is not only to share our knowledge with each other, but to support other educators, encourage our collegues and help new educators coming into the profession.
