Past - present - future as a educator.
This introduction video outlines, my past experiences with teaching and educating, my present growth in the Bachelors of Elementary education program and the future that I hope to be at one day as a remarkable teacher in a local school.
Dr.Hopper asks us to think about our beliefs and values that we have currently (at the beginning of the semester) regarding what a successful teacher would look and act like. I struggled with this request because I do not want to just be a successful teacher; I would like to be an educator of young people. Strengthening them to leaders and do-gooders in this world, preparing them to stand up for dignity and truth, especially when another is being put down or marginalized, formed to be socially and environmentally responsible students; I want to be more than a teacher that only teaches 2+2 = 4. I want to be a teacher who impacts every child in a positive way, never negative.
These values and beliefs of mine should have radiated through my introduction video and letter for my current educators and soon mentors teachers to pick up on as well.
Luckily these values and beliefs of mine also correlate directly to many of the BC teaching standards such as the following:
- Educators value and care for all students and act in their best interests
- Educators are role models who act ethically and honestly.
- Educators understand and apply knowledge of student growth and development.
- Educators value the involvement and support of parents, guardians, families, and communities in schools.
These standards are all rooted deeply into the core of my beliefs and values regarding educating the upcoming generation of leaders in our world today.

Here is the letter of introduction I have prepared for my seminar class and really outlines my experience with teach thus far. This letter of introduction professionally explains my experiences with teaching swimming lessons, and also being a youth leader in a parish ministry setting. Through my job as a water safety instructor and the amazing support I have got through my co-workers/programmers at Gordon Head Recreation centre I have developed professionally and have been given a great amount of confidence teaching.
