Biology
My interest in biology began with my experiences in the outdoors. Weather it be exploring the river valley as a kid, taking trips to the mountains, skiing, or going to summer camps I have always had an appreciation for nature. In terms of academically, my interest began with anatomy and physiology. I really enjoyed learning about how the human body works and from a sport perspective I found that it was highly applicable. As I pursued my degree I found that I have become more interested in environmental sciences, ecology, as well as the general history of scientific discovery. One of the amazing things about biology is the wide range of topics to explore, from biological systems, biodiversity, and ecology, to health, genetics, and anatomy. My goal as an educator is to try and get these students intrinsically motivated to learn about biology, to find ways to engage the students through experimentation and exploration and then harness that interest to create life long learners.
