Why Physical Education?
I have always enjoyed Physical Activity, from 2004 - 2009 I had the privilege to be a part of the Diamond for Excellence Baseball Academy at Lambrick Park Secondary School. This program was a major influence on the person I am today. With the help of the Academy, I was able to obtain a scholarship to play baseball in the USA. Through my experiences I have developed a large appreciation for active health and engaging a larger community in healthy living (physical activity). I believe that Physical Education is designed for everyone to enjoy. We as educators need to help these students see Physical Activity as a way of life not just another class they have to take. We need to help develop a love for activity, so students can learn how to live a long healthy happy life!
Applying What I've learned
I am able to understand and demonstrate:
- Knowledge of and use of effective teaching strategies and evaluation procedures for games taught in physical education.
- Knowledge of games classification systems and their application to the teaching of games taught in physical education.
- Knowledge of and use of teaching progressions for skill and tactical development in games taught in physical education.
- Knowledge of and use of effective lesson plans for the teaching of games taught in physical education drawing on TGfU and Sport Education models.
- Knowledge of how to represent and use rich media technology to enhance colleagues and students learning in relation to different forms of physical activity games played in society.
“STEP” to success:

Types of Play:
1) Territory Invasion
(football, soccer, basketball etc…)
2) Net/Wall games

3) Bat/Fielding games

4 R’s of Sport:

Recovery
“RECOVERY movement to a base position sets up the player to READ the situation and make a decision movement to anticipation of his opponent’s expected shot”
“As the opponent strikes the ball, the player RESPONDS with the movement to cover the actual target area where the ball is sent and then REACTS to the ball with small movements that adjust his body position for an effective shot.”
