Educators Engage in Career-Long Learning
The curiosity for knowledge and the willingness to share it, is not something that simply ends after a teacher leaves the classroom. The purpose of obtaining knowledge would be for personal growth rather than just achieving a simple goal. Lifelong learning starts with a genuine interest in a little bit of everything. I believe this is the habit of a great educator. This is not something that is taught or learnt but it is practiced every day. Being open minded and experiencing new extremes should be embraced rather than feared, which is why teachers should never get comfortable with where they are in life.
Where it Begins!
It all starts and ends with the students. Without an audience, there is no classroom thus I am a firm believer that individual student needs should come before my own. There would be no ego involved with teaching. I base my success as a teacher with the success of my students.
Where do i see myself?
My immediate goal is to finish my degree in education from the University of Victoria. From there, I see myself progressing towards a long term career in middle school or high school education within the Capital Regional District area. I am open to the idea of traveling to where the jobs are available but ultimately, I am an island boy and near the ocean is where I call home.
