Putting Practice Into Play

Over the course of my time at the University of Victoria and more importantly in my time during EPHE 452 this semester,  I have had several opportunities to finally get out into the field and work with students.

On this page you will see a web based grade seven handball unit plan one of my fellow colleagues and I created, a video of me teaching a warm-up game to colleagues at UVIC, two assignments (an observation and teaching three lessons) based on my teaching at Gordon Head Middle School this year, a reflection video on my overall learning from peer teaching, a student-athlete contract I composed for my junior boys basketball team this year, a photo of the juniors boys team I coached this year, a email a parent sent me regarding my coaching ability this year, a favourite quote of mine, an annotated article I wrote for EPHE 452 based on the use of iPads in a physical education class/sports ed season and finally a little fun video shot with Go-Pros that shows us engaging in games we teach our students.

In relation to the BC ministry of Education standards to be certified as a teacher this page refers to my evidence of starting to address, (1) effective practices in areas of classroom management, planning, instruction, assessment, evaluation, and reporting, and/or (2) partnerships with peers, families and local communities showing how as an educator I value the involvement of communities in and outside of schools to develop worthwhile educational experiences. Increasingly, the growth of technology allows this ability to connect with broader and more informed communities to become more evident in the practice of educators in the twenty first century as represented by this digital portfolio.
