Partner Blog

Based on your assigned partner(s) you will rotate from week to week leading the creation of a blog based on the lesson notes (in class on on instructor blog), class activities and readings for the week. Blogs for the week must be posted by Friday of the week assigned to allow reviewing partner(s) to respond over the weekend.  Blog entries represent your professional notes from course activities and should be created to benefit the learning of your peers as well as yourself.

Blog requirements

For a blog to pass it must contain at least one of the following in contents.  Referring to activities and notes from class compose a blog entry using (1) 300 + words, (2) Combination of 200 + words, images and/or videos, or (3) Video response with short (less 100 words) explanation.

Entries can include materials copied from the instructor or peers if suitably acknowledge but must included personal interpretation and insight.  Paralleling the BC New Curriculum blog entries should address the following three areas. Questions are included as helpful prompts in your thinking.

Content - What content in regards teaching PE do you now know?

Competencies - What can you now do as a learner and/or what can you now try to do as a teacher?

Big Ideas - Why was this important learning? What big ideas can you consider based on the concepts taught in the week?

After you have co-created 10 blog entries your blog is completed with a collaborative created readback.

The readback means you read over your entries and answer the following questions.

  • What were the key themes in your learning from this class and how did that relate to your expectations? 
  • What competencies as a future PE and generalist teacher have you developed?
  • What do you feel you need to work on on your 3 week practicum to improve your ability to teach PE? 

To pass need weekly blogs with comments and final Readback posted for assessment due on or before Mar 19th

After your partner has completed their blog entry for the week you role is to read, rate and respond.  To rate the entry use the following criteria:

(1) Good insights but I have added some missing information

(2) Very good and my comments build on your ideas

(3) Excellent and I have responded to some of your ideas to help me understand what we are learning.

Then respond using "add comment" button with any additional comments that you feel your co-created blog would benefit from as you develop your ability to teach PE with your partner.
