About me
Hi! My name is Emma Rothwell, and I am in the Elementary Education program at the University of Victoria! Ever since I can remember I have wanted to become a teacher. Growing up with a kindergarten teacher for a mother I spent a lot of time in her classroom, just waiting for it to be my turn to teach. She has always shared her passions for both learning and teaching with me, and showed me just how important teachers are. As soon as I was old enough I began volunteer coaching for my cheerleading team, and eventually was able to become a certified coach. Following my job coaching I became a summer camp leader, and am now working in a child care centre. Working with children and teaching them how to love learning has always been a passion of mine, and I'm so excited to be on my journey to becoming a teacher!

Emma I love your home page! The skin and font colours are beautiful. Having your personal information at the top is very helpful and it is easy to navigate to your various pages. Your letter of introduction was a great artifact to include, perhaps consider adding a visual alongside it. I look forward to looking at your portfolio more as it continues to develop.

World Without Teachers
This video really stuck out to me and put the value of teachers into words. Even children who struggled with school where able to pick out teachers that impacted and inspired them, and even made them feel emotional. A few phrases to describe teachers that really resonated with me were, "They shape who we become," and "They never leave you behind." It is my goal as a teacher to be able to inspire students to do the best that they can, and to shape them into strong, powerful individuals. This video put into perspective for me they way that people feel about teachers, and the importance of choosing this as a career.
