Introduction

I was given the wonderful opportunity to work at St. Mary's Catholic School in Prince George in the late spring of 2015, and again in 2016. Working for a private school, I was a Teacher On Call, despite having one year left in my degree. It was a fantastic experience and opportunity for me to put everything I had learned into practice. The classes ranged from Kindergarten to Grade 7. I taught everything from Art and Music to Science and Math. I gathered lots of different methods to gain the attention of the class, as well as keeping them in line. In the spring of 2016, word had spread to another elementary school, Immaculate Conception, and I frequently taught a grade 5 class on top of my work at St. Mary's. This work was all done previous to my Education degree. I continued to substitute at St. Mary's in 2017 whenever I was not needed in the public sector.

Camp Maurice

After working with St. Mary's, the principal asked me to chaperone with him on the Grade 7 year-end trip. It was a great opportunity to see how things work and develop behind the scenes to field trips such as this. I had a lot of fun getting to know the students better.

A Job Well Done:

During my time at St. Mary's, I was able to work closely with the Principal, Brent Arsenault. He is a fantastic mentor, and has so much passion and love for education. It was a privilege to work with him and the other staff members as well. He gave me the opportunity to put my skills to the test (especially classroom management) in an Elementary School atmosphere. It was an incredible experience, and I was ecstatic when he gave me a letter of recommendation, which can be read below.
