Reflection

This is an area in which I feel I have proficient competency in. Collaboration and community engagement comes naturally to me, so I consider it strength. Being a coach, Sportball instructor, and a special needs respite worker are all roles that require collaboration and community engagement. EPHE 452 has greatly enhanced my ability in this competency. Moving forward my goal will be to reach the extending competency by gaining confidence in my ability, and continuing to grow from different experiences.

Learning Experiences in EPHE 452

I chose these two artifacts because they directly apply to the big idea "Collaboration and Community Engagement". In EPHE 452 our use of the classroom stream allows us to engage with others to share ideas, and build knowledge. In addition, peer-teaching sessions enhances our teaching practice. These collaborative experiences help us form professional connections, and develop the ability to give and receive constructive feedback. From this we have also gained a sense of community since we are all working towards becoming future teachers.

In the classroom stream I have been able to post my reflections about a topic but perhaps more importantly to grow from taking in other people’s perspectives. In our peer teaching session I have learned so much from evaluating others, and also getting evaluated. This kind of applied learning is so beneficial before we begin our field assessment. In both the classroom stream and peer teaching sessions feedback gives us the opportunity to grow.
