Evan Fryer

I am currently in my fifth year of studies in the Secondary Education Program at the University of Victoria with specialization in Physical Education and Mathematics.

My involvement in sport and athletics has helped me to choose teaching Physical Education as a career and helped me grow, not only as an athlete, but also as a leader. I am currently a Provincial Soccer Referee in Canada and travel across North America officiating Professional and Semi-Professional matches. With my training, I am frequently able to mentor and coach young referees, which I feel is an extremely rewarding way to give back to sport and inspire youth to be physically active. I also spend much of my time coaching volleyball and soccer in the community.

I have a love for traveling and have had some incredible historical and cultural experiences including hiking the Inca Trail, trudging through the Amazon jungle, performing in a concert on the Great Wall of China, playing soccer with people in Peru and Mexico and spending a month in Egypt, Jordan and Turkey during a very revolutionary time in 2011. I feel that these unique experiences and insight into different ways of life will allow me to be empathetic of many diverse cultures in my classroom.
