Level of competency

Reflection #5

This artifact is in regards to Isaac and I's lesson plan we made for our field experience. We designed a rugby lesson with the TGfU model in mind. We used what we have learned in class and the resources provided by Professor Hopper and combined it with the new curriculum to create this lesson.

Reflect:

  • Assessment: I feel I am performing at a developing sense of learning intended in this big idea.
  • Evidence: Within our lesson plan we start off with a game (a simplified introductory game that emphasizes a tactical idea through a strategic focus), then do a drill working on a specific skill needed to play the game then back to the game we started with. This artifact reflects that I have a basic level of understanding of this big idea
  • Personal growth: I feel confident now that I can create a lesson plan around the TGfU model.
  • Goal:  I feel that I am only at a developing stage as I don't think our lesson included everything it needed to have to completely incorporate the TGfU model. Therefore, I hope to improve our lesson plan from feedback given so that I can move from developing to proficient.

Reflection #6

This artifact is a video taken by Tim and posted to our google classroom. Within this video Isaac and myself are teaching our peers our lesson we would be conducting later on in the week. Peer teaching our lesson before hand was really beneficial to understand what would work and what needed improvement in our lesson. Furthermore, it was super helpful to hear their comments and feedback in relation to making the lesson better.

Reflect:

  • Assessment: This video represent that I am still developing this big idea.
  • Evidence: Although I understand and can perform the learning skill for this big idea, I still rely on feedback from the teacher in order to improve, which is seen in this video. I would say my content within the lesson was very basic level of my understanding for the associated competencies and could've been clearer.
  • Personal growth: I feel confident I can create a lesson plan, relatively explain my understanding to key core concepts related to teaching games and connect it to the new curriculum.
  • Goal: Nonetheless, I want to make my lesson plans and the way I teach more clear, which is something I am going to work on.

Reflection #7

This my class comment to Cam's video and questions. For this artifact I answered Cam's question well also reflecting on Christine's comment.

Reflect:

  • Assessment: With regards to this big idea I think I am developing.
  • Evidence: My class comment shows that I am learning in relation to this big idea, however I don't comment back to classmates ideas or comments enough to be proficient.
  • Personal growth: Through this artifact I demonstrated I am capable of reflecting on my peers thoughts and ideas well still answering discussion questions, I just need to do this more often.
  • Goal: In the future I want to answer the questions proposed to me well also reflecting on my classmates comments. By looking at my classmates comments and reflecting I can learn even more as they propose new ideas I never thought of.
