Reflection on Teaching
To the right is my feedback from my mentor teacher. It was great to reflect and receive feedback on our 4 lessons.
Assessment: I believe I am still developing as I still need more experience in the classroom but the feedback given will be useful in order for me to progress to being proficient.
Evidence: This evidence reflects my learning on what will work in a class of grade 7 students and what will not.
Personal growth: I now have a better understanding of how to progressively plan my lessons and what is a good pace on what to work on in each lesson.
Goal: Something I want to continue to work on is designing games that are accurate to the skill and understanding level of my students.
Reflection on Lessons
To the right are my lesson plans I have made for teaching at Arbutus Middle School. This was a grade 7 class consisting of 27 students, who were all new to the idea of Rugby.
Assessment: I feel that I am still developing.
Evidence: My lesson plans show that I have a basic understanding of how to plan appropriate games and drills that will help the students develop their learning.
Personal growth: I feel confident enough to plan lessons for any unit I decided to teach. Furthermore, the lessons I create will include everything needed to be successful .
Goal: Something I want to improve is my idea of what I think I can accomplish in a certain lesson. Sometimes students will not pick up the idea as fast as I thought they would and I need to adjust.
Learning Experiences in EPHE 452
Learning Experiences in EPHE 452 in order to generate evidence of developing competence.
- Linking readings on learning processes to PE practices modeled in class and discussed in academic articles.
- Show with examples of materials created how to effectively plan for teaching in schools, assess student learning and use teaching approaches that address the needs of all students.
- Document and reflect on own experience learning within different pedagogical approaches such as TGfU and Sport Education and articulate how you might be able to implement in your future practice as a physical educator.
