About me
As a student in Bachelor of Education (Secondary Curriculum) Program, focusing on physical education and history, at the University of Victoria (UVic), I have a compelling interest in pursuing a teaching career. With early experiences working within a classroom, in addition to activities outside the traditional classroom, I have a diverse background with much to offer.
My high school experience was filled with participating in Link Crew (a mentorship and transition program), Leadership Class and Rugby, which sparked my desire to become a teacher.
My first experience teaching in a classroom setting was in 2014 with my senior Leadership Class and a group of peers and I visited McMillian Elementary School acting as Santa's elves, we coordinated activities for the students including multiple stations. It was an excellent experience for me to understand what it is to be of service to others. I also learned valuable life skills including the importance of teamwork, responsibility, organization, multi-tasking, communication and problem solving, which will help me succeed as an educator. But most importantly, I discovered the joy of working with students.
During my time at UVic, I have had the opportunity to coach senior boys volleyball at Mt. Doug Secondary for two years. Coaching volleyball has helped defined the importance of helping youth discover success through their learning journey. Ive also had the opportunity to co teach 4 yoga lessons at Mt. Doug through Uvic; As well as co teach 3 rugby lessons at a local middle school.
My interest for teaching Physical Education stems from my passion for rugby and the outdoors. As a student athlete, I encountered success in the game of rugby and it taught me the importance of communication, teamwork and grit. My minor in history stems from an interest in understanding change and the evolution of society.
My experiences and interests have allowed me to grow as an educator. Specifically, this class has taught me new methods of teaching within PE such as TGfU and Sport Education Model, which are helpful tools to increase student engagement.

Teaching Philosophy
My philosophy of education includes a belief that all children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally and socially. I hope to foster a safe, student-centered classroom where interactive learning can take place and where students are invited to share their ideas and take risks. I hope to explore and learn how to foster students to be active participants in their own learning.
