About me
I am currently attending the University of Victoria in the Education Program, specifically at the Secondary level in the subjects of Social Studies (history emphasis) and physical education. I have one year left in this program, and I have throughly enjoyed my time. This program has strengthened my interest in teaching by the classes I have taken and the opportunities provided. I have gained a lot of experience and of course knowledge I can share with students, methods of teaching, and activities I can use to help my students learn.
Outside of my schooling I have been actively involved in the field hockey community increasingly over the past ten years. I have been playing for eighteen years, but ten years ago I began coaching. I have continued to do so and have even been able to take one or two teams to Vancouver to compete in tournaments. I have coached teams ranging from the ages of eight to twenty. I have enjoyed and have continued to volunteer my time to help provide opportunities for these athletes to play. This is a sport that I very much enjoy and hope to allow as many people as I can to participate and hopefully enjoy it as much as I do. Also I have become a field hockey umpire and have started working my way through the levels, and last year I was selected to umpire at the U16 Nationals. On top of my field hockey I have also been playing soccer in the local league for Lakehill since 2005, with one year off due to injury/ illness. Now I play for a Women’s Division 2 team.

(3 pages)Teaching Experience
Through my program at UVic we have been exposed to teaching opportunities, some lessons we have been able to choose our topics others we have not. At the moment I have been able to co-teach with my fellow students. For a Social Studies peer teaching lesson, my partner and I created a 45 minute introductory lesson on climate change and the human impact. I have also completed mini peer teaching lessons in a couple of my classes on topics like badminton and basketball. As for teaching students I co-taught a group of PE students from a local high school 2 lessons in ping-pong, and 2 lessons in badminton.
