Swimming

One exploratory course that I would love to teach that is currently not offered at all high schools is Swimming!

Swimming 101

In Grade 12 I went to Vancouver to become a certified coaching, taking the Swimming 101 course. This is one of five levels of certificates that can be achieved in the coaching world. I am continually looking to upgrade my certificates and develop more coaching skills.

Lifeguarding and Teaching Swimming Lessons

As soon as I could I began achieving my certificates for lifeguarding and teaching Red Cross swim lessons.

Throughout my years of University, this along with coaching has been my life and has helped me get through my University career.

These experiences have taught me so much about what it is to be a teacher and care about your community.

Coaching with Tyee

I began coaching with Tyee Aquatic Club in 2016 in my fifth and final year of university. I am the Lead Coach of the Sooke team and it was this experience that really instilled in me my passion for teaching and my want to be a high school teacher. The relationships I have made with these swimmers are extremely powerful and have been hugely influential in my life.

Coaching with Powell River Aquatic Club

I have been a member of the Powell River Aquatic Club since I was 5 years old. I swam in the club competitively from 5-18 years old, then I began coaching the club as Assistant Coach leading to Head Coach, my last year of which was the summer of 2017. The Powell River Aquatic Club is my family and I found my identity and experienced the most of my growth throughout my years leading the team to success.
