Secondary Teaching Area:
At University, I have been lucky to have the opportunity to take many classes which I think are both interesting, and useful for me as a high school teacher. My secondary teaching area is social studies where I focused on History and Sociology. I believe that history is a very important subject area for people to be educated in because knowing why the world is the way it is and how things evolve and change is important to understanding the world and your place in it. Taking many courses in Sociology helped round out my education because I was able to classes on religion, mental health, gender, food, sexuality, constructions of beauty, and racialization and ethnicity.
