Kim Robertson

I am currently a student in the Exercise and Physical Health Education Faculty at the University of Victoria; I am working towards my Bachelor of Education – Secondary Curriculum with a focus on the Physical Education and English teaching areas.

Throughout my life, I have been lucky enough to enjoy a multitude of positive learning experiences as well as sport and recreational pursuits. I relished my school experiences and sport played a tremendous role in this, as I was very active in school sports. Soccer and basketball are the two sports that I have pursued most vigorously; however, I thoroughly enjoy playing many other sports recreationally. My positive experiences with school and sport have driven me to develop strong passions for learning and being physically active – passions that I would love to share with students through teaching.

As a future teacher, it is my goal to create a learning environment for students that embraces inclusivity and creativity, one that allows students to be successful yet still challenged, and one that encourages students to adopt an appreciation of learning in different contexts – whether it be academically, socially, physically, etc. I believe the profession “teacher” encompasses much more than just teaching, as teachers can immensely influence students’ directions of learning and educational pursuits both inside and outside the classroom. Therefore, I believe that creating a learning environment that allows students to feel safe and respected is of utmost importance.
