Who Are We?
In our EPHE 310 class, our professor (Tim Hopper) organized us into "Bear Teams" according to a survey we did in the beginning of the year. From Day 1, my team instantly connected and created bonds right from the get-go. In our Bear Teams, we would be assigned certain tasks throughout the semester in which we had to work together to succeed. Having these Bear teams showed us a little taste of what it's like to be collaborating with other teachers with different teaching strategies. Since we are all so different, we help each other by sharing teaching tips that have worked in our own favour. We have worked together to form an exceptional and passionate group of educators. When we are working on a task together, we feed off each other's energy which is wonderful to have when working in chaotic environments. We are a group of Brown Bears with a lot of spirit!
Brown Bears Birthday!
My birthday, October 2nd, landed on a weekend this year... But that didn't stop the Brown Bear spirit! My fellow Brown Bears planned out a very special celebration the day before my birthday! They prepared cupcakes and candy bags, supplied noise makers, and surprised me that morning with a grand celebration! It was in that moment that I noticed that my peers possessed many qualities that teachers have. Teachers will go out of their way to do something special for their students. Having them around and showing this kind of kindness has motivated me to do just the same with my students.
Hallowe'en Fun!
We decided to get in the Hallowe'en spirit! I decided to be the Cheshire Cat, Keely is Little Red, Shelby is a princess, and Garrett decided to be (of course) a brown bear! Tinisha and Rebecca wanted to be clever with their costume, so they decided to be Tim Hopper's famous line, "AAAAAND STOP!" I believe that showing spirit into the holidays like this is quite important for teachers. Students are very big fans of holidays like this and they love seeing their teacher get involved as well. If we show spirit like this in our classrooms, I believe students will feed of your spirit. This will show as a positive impact on the class!

Promoting Social Cohesion in our Cohort
In this course, we receive digital badges for completing a task that is associated with the profession of teaching (check out my Digital Badges page to find out more about it!). To promote social cohesion, many of us prepared a healthy snack or purchased/baked treats for our whole cohort during our 3-hour EDCI 336 class on Tuesday mornings!

Practicing our Pickle Ball Skills
Playing and coaching each other in a task progression game called "Spot on the Wall"
In the EPHE 310 class, we learn a whole lot on the importance or task progressions in order to become excellent movers. As part of the course, we have to take part in a Pickle Ball Tournament at the end of term. The Brown Bears have been attending Pickle Ball practice before and after class. We have become much more confident in our Pickle Ball abilities. We can now use these certain task progressions to teach to our future students! They are effective indeed!

Reflection
Having this team system in our EPHE 310/EDCI 336 was a great way to start off this program on a high note. On our first day of this program, we had our EPHE 310 class and Tim Hopper organized us in our teams. We started the class off strong and dove right into icebreakers and teamwork/strategy games. Initially, before the program started, I was quite nervous about my first day. However, I'm very happy that we started off the program with this class. This first class took us out of our comfort zones right from the get-go and when I think about it now, that is much of how teaching/being a teacher is like.
Being a teacher means that you have to be able to collaborate and work with other educators. These teams helped us practice working with each other in order to create effective results within an assignment or activity. My team is a great group of future teachers who put a whole lot of effort and spirit into all of our assignments. Having these teams was a great way to practice our involvement within the profession. I loved working with my Brown Bears!
