EPHE 310

Our EPHE 310 class documented our first steps and experiences into becoming an elementary school teacher. In Year 2 of the Bachelor of Education (Elemenetary Curriculum) Program, we were given the chance and opportunities to experience the teaching experience in action. We received tips and feedback from one another to improve our teaching technique that we can use in a PE class. We were exposed to new ways of looking into teaching that will help us on our journey to becoming an educator. All that we have learned in the first half of the semester would be applied in our Braefoot Elementary visit in early October. This video journal, jam packed with amazing teaching tips taught by Tim Hopper, documents the main points of all our classes from September 8, 2016 - October 13, 2016.

*This video was made by Sarah Gauvin, Alysha Watier, London Coronica, Bree Keen, and Melanie Narciso.

Reflection

This video was a great way of reviewing all the main points in the first half of the term. As we were editing the videos, I remembered many of the different concepts we talked about during the first half of the year. For me, I found making this video to be beneficial because it's something I can look back on when I become a teacher. Sometimes, we forget about the different topics we learn in class, but having a video artifact will give us the opportunity to be able to look back.

The way my group organized the making of this video was that we set each person a certain role. Alysha was in charge of the storyboard, London and Sarah took care of the video editing, Bree picked out the music to go with the video, and I developed the script and voice. This was the basis of our system, however, we all ended up helping each other out in the different roles. This proved to be a challenge for us because we had to think about our main role as well as help others in their roles too. We had to work efficiently and maintain a steady workplace even though the circumstances were chaotic. This experience gave us a little taste of what it is like to be a teacher. Though you are working in chaotic environments, you have to maintain a sense of calmness and still have the ability to work efficiently.
