Melanie Narciso

Starting from kindergarten right up until graduation from high school, I was enrolled in the Island Catholic Schools. I attended St. Andrew's Elementary School (K-7) and St. Andrew's Regional High School (grades 8-12). In high school, I became very active within the school community. In all my years there, I was in the choir and received Top Student in Choral Music from grades 9-11 and the Musical Performance Trophy in grade 12. I was also a member of the dance team in grades 9 and 10 and was even one of the leaders/choreographers in my grad year. In grade 11, I joined musical theatre class where I choreographed the musical numbers of our school production of "Doo Wop Wed Widing Hood". The next year, I was offered the lead role of Peter Pan in our production, "Peter Pan". I received Top Student in Theatre Performance in grade 11 and 12 and also the Excellence in Drama Award in my grad year. Because of my involvement in the Fine Arts at school, I was elected as one of the Fine Arts Representatives in student council in my last year of high school (2013). I received the David McKenzie Fine Arts Memorial Scholarship that same year. I enjoyed being involved within the school community and making connections with other students of all grades. I was selected to be one of the leaders of the Student Retreat Team where I participated and helped organize student retreats and provided guidance for the younger students. I graduated in 2013 with Honours. 

In 2014, I made the decision to study to become an elementary school teacher. I attended Camosun College for two years completing my prerequisites. After my two years at Camosun, in 2016, I applied and was selected for entry to the Bachelor of Education (Elementary Curriculum) Program at the University of Victoria. I am currently in Year 2 of the program and am excited for this journey towards becoming a certified elementary school teacher!
